Judith Crowe took her first art lessons at age five when her uncle and aunt, both artists, sent her to drawing lessons. She has continued to work with a variety of drawing and painting media, including oil, watercolor, colored pencil and pastels.
At this time, she is most excited about painting with pastels. She has studied this medium for several years, and works weekly with a group of pastellists at Bert Collins' studio in Ojai. This commitment is valuable for keeping the pace of work going, and for the critiques from fellow artists. She works very quickly in this medium, usually completing a painting in one or two sittings, then putting it aside to "rest" before making final changes.
A resident of Thousand Oaks and Grover Beach, CA, Dr. Crowe is a member of the Pastel Society of the Gold Coast, Buenaventura Art Association, Thousand Oaks Art Association, and several others. She is an award-winning artist who exhibits work regularly. Her work has been shown at galleries in Thousand Oaks, Ventura, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, New Orleans and New Hampshire. Her paintings hang in a number of private and corporate collections.
